Celebrations

Celebrating is always a fun thing to do. Everyone loves a good birthday party. This semester, my challenge for you is to celebrate more than just on your birthday. Take time to celebrate the success of getting through another semester. Celebrate your friendships, your loved ones, and your relationship with Christ. Spend more time in celebration in order to combat the despair that sometimes accompanies schoolwork. Take the opportunity for this last semester of the 2011-2012 school year to make lasting memories. For some, this may be your last semester at Trinity; for others, your adventures have only just begun. In these last four months, do your utmost to avoid getting lost in grades and the general stress of school. Make sure to take time out of your day to celebrate something, small or large.

You may be wondering what this might look like. Well, it could take a variety of forms. Take the time to take a friend for coffee, make breakfast for dinner with your dorm, have a dorm iron man contest through out the campus, jam with your friends, host a random worship night in your apartment. Make this semester different from any other. Change is good. Adventure is exciting. Life is full of opportunities for the creation of endless memories. Take time to laugh, live, and find joy in celebrating your life.

Some of you might think that this is a very “girly” blog. Maybe it is, but, guys, replace all of my girly comments with whatever you will-a pick up basketball game behind Northwest, or playing road hockey. Head for cheap burgers on Monday night at the FLP. Take time to build community and build one another. You’ll want to look back on your university years and remember all the random and goofy nights you had. You don’t want to look back and only remember all the stressful evenings.

Keep working hard, but try to make time to celebrate and rejoice in all that life has to offer. Reward yourself and others around you. The semester will be over in no time, and you don’t want to miss out on opportunities to live out your wildest dreams.
